Communication from the Heart and Stroke Foundation:

Please be advised that effective September 1, 2019 Heart & Stroke student registration fees will increase by $1.00 per student per course, from $2.50 to $3.50. This modest increase ensures our fees remain low and is the first such increase since 2016.

Instructor and student registration fees generated from the resuscitation program enable Heart & Stroke to deliver against the ambitious goals for its best in class resuscitation training and our unwavering commitment to the latest science. As you know, Heart & Stroke plays a leading role in the review of international evidence in resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care. This review ultimately impacts our instructor network with new and revised clinical practice guidelines, educational materials, and training programs. Our work, which occurs over a rigorous five-year cycle, requires a significant investment of people, time, and resources and allows us to constantly improve our training offerings. This year, we launched a new BLS blended learning program providing increased learning options for students and increased teaching opportunities for instructors.

At the same time, we are investing in new technologies to help you deliver best-in-class training as evidenced with our new online portal launching this summer, which will improve the user experience. We also continue to work toward our mission through initiatives like our new Restart a Heart awareness and advocacy campaign coming this autumn.

The decision to increase the registration fee was made after careful consideration of the impact it will have on our network. Should this decision pose significant challenges for your business, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are confident that the new services we will be launching for you will provide efficiencies in your operations and a better training experience for all our course participants across Canada.

With thanks for your ongoing support and all that you do to save more lives.

Sincerely,

The Resuscitation Team
